Hi, I purchased a 3-Day Cleanse from Jus By Julie. I live in Sacramento, CA and though the juices were delivered FedEx overnight, the box was wet and the ice bags were melted. The juices were already warm, but I started drinking the first juice. These are not actually "juices" but more like smoothies as the contents are blended and not put through a juicer.
I started drinking my second juice, which had spoiled, and before I finished 1/3 of the bottle I was in the bathroom vomiting. I juice on my own every day, but have never tried a "commercial juice cleanse" before. My next juice was the "lemonade" juice and was also bad and had to be thrown away. I spent the rest of the day in bed. I tried drinking two more juices which were green juices and my favorites. Still, I had to use a spoon, to make sure I wouldn't become sick.
The 2nd day, I became sick again from spoiled juices and threw everything away. I emailed the company and Groupon and was issued a refund.
I left a review on Yelp, but it was "filtered" - not to be seen by anyone unless you know how to find them! It seems everyone in CA has been getting sick. Even those living in NY, where the company is, has a problem delivering "clean" juices. Jus By Julie does NOT use organic ingredients and adds H2O, which is never recommended when juicing.
This is a company I would not recommend. Nutritionally speaking, you are drinking CANDY. Each day, my nutrition totaled up to: 14g Protein, 14g Fiber, 108g Sugar!
If you're going to do a cleanse, which I highly recommend, make sure the juices are organic, cold pressed, delivered FROZEN - or do not accept. Know the nutritional value and make sure you're not drinking liquid candy. You want to feel healthy and energized. Too much sugar will give you headaches and make you feel tired, sluggish and even depressed.
Read your labels, and read the reviews with caution!

I am definitely interested-- I have a ton of food intolerances and stomach sensitivities, so I am always curious to learn more and read about others' experiences. That actually sounds very similar to the way my stomach is... headed over to your blog to read more right now!

Ooo veggie juices would probably work! I never thought of that. My food intolerance is called fructose malabsorption. It's kind of complicated, but basically my body has trouble breaking down fructose and related compounds like fructans (found in wheat), and sugar alcohols (really only in processed foods). To be able to digest fructose my body needs at least as much glucose present in the food, so I basically have a huge chart of foods showing which ones are ok, which ones aren't, and which ones are ok in small amounts. I have a few posts on it in the "busyeats" section of my blog if you're interested. :)

Ok, since I don't have a juicer, do you know if Jus ships to Puerto Rico? I'll be moving to Miami in May and I think I might find more options, but I'd love to this cleanse in April!!

Yes!! That documentary changed my life. It is such an interesting and informative story, especially for people who are skeptic about cleansing and plant-based diets. How was the liver cleansing diet?!

Hey Jules! I pretty much just listen to my body and modify as much as it tells me to-- sometimes I have tons of energy on a juice cleanse, and other times my body is feeling more of a restorative process. If you find it hard to keep up with your workouts while cleansing, it's certainly a great time to take a break. One of the most awesome things about cleansing is learning to get more in tune with our bodies, and modifying workouts for the 3-5 day period is a great way to do that!

Great information about juice cleanses. I've done the liver cleansing diet before but never an actual juice cleanse, I'd be interested to try one at some point I think just to see what they are like.

Have you seen the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead? That sparked my first interest in trying a juice cleanse because of all the health benefits he showed he got from it.

Hey! Love the post. Its so informative! When you've done cleanses, how have you managed your workout schedule? Do you simply take those days off or modify them? I've done a short 3 day fruit/veggie cleanse, just to reset my palate and found that it was a little difficult for my body to adhere to my running schedule (I run 55-60 miles a week). I don't plan on doing another cleanse any time soon, but was wondering if you had any advice for this?

Thanks for the great post! I've always been a little hesitant about juice cleanses because they've always seemed like just a method to lose weight quickly.

Not sure if I'll ever try one, but I'm bookmarking this post just in case!
