Hey girl! The best advice I got for marathon day was to dedicate each mile to someone important to you. It works wonders! It will take you beyond the physical and, at times, can be super emotional. (My mile dedicated to my stepmother who passed away coincided with a gospel choir at mile 21 and I lost it, but I kept going.) Let the people around you, both on the sidelines cheering you on and on those on your list carry you through. Race day is amazing. You got this!

I have not made the dive into running a full marathon quite yet, so kudos to you! One thing I really enjoyed while training for my half (I wasn't able to find anyone to run it with me) is I talked my family and sometimes the boyfriend into riding their bikes alongside me while I did my long runs. It helped to have someone keep me company and keep me motivated, because let's be real...you never wanna let 'em see you sweat. ;) Good luck! Can't wait to read all about it!

I completely agree, Cassie! Dedicating yourself to only one exercise can feel a little limiting and it's definitely not the most well rounded choice for your body! It always feels best for me to switch it up. Yoga and running are my two favs :)

I actually think that dedicating yourself to only one exercise isn't very fun--you experience so much fun movement and sensations when you do a variety! Running is incredible, but so is kickboxing, Pilates, spinning, hiking, swimming, and yoga, of course! It's okay if you consider yourself behind--it can only motivate you to do better!

I totally understand! I never planned on signing up for a full marathon, but I was convinced by some of the coaches on my team and I am so glad that I have taken the plunge. It's been such a different experience for me, but the structure of the team and the program definitely helps! Thanks so much for the support and I will definitely keep updating you guys. :) Xoxo

Ahhh yes that makes so much sense!! I actually had that experience running a 10k recently because there were so many hours before eating (SO EARLY) and starting the actual race at 8am. I am so excited to give it a go... And so terrified! Yay for LA girls. :) xo

Love the update! I've only done half marathons as well and I haven't taken the plunge of signing up for a full marathon mostly for the reasons you listed--26.2 miles seems SO long and I'm not sure I have the time to commit to it. I also have been loving the cross training I've been doing lately, and I don't want to give that up. Good luck on your race this weekend and excited to hear how the rest of training goes!

Last year, I ran the LA Marathon, and I hit the wall earlier than I wanted to (if at all!). It was at mile 17/18. I attribute it to not eating enough the morning of the marathon because I didn't realize how waking up (and eating) earlier than I usually did before my long runs would affect my nutrition. If you don't bring along real food during the race, then I suggest eating something light (banana, bar, etc.) closer to start time to keep your energy up. Good luck!! There's nothing like the feeling of crossing the finish line.
