Hi! Just found this post! I have just got back from India where I was for a month studying Ayurveda and I learnt everything traditionally in all aspects. It was incredibly fascinating and I am really into the Ayurvedic way of life. I am a pitta dosha too! While I was out there I also had panchakarma treatment and the results were incredible! I am @IvyrRode on all my social media etc but I would love to touch base with you and discuss your ayurvedic story and we could swap notes!
Beautiful blog!

Do you recommend any specific bloggers/websites, books or social accounts for further reading in Ayurvedic medicine and dosha functioning? There are so many, and I am just scratching the surface myself. I'm a vata but, when imbalanced, tend to pitta :)

Omigosh--one of my mentors is an Ayurvedic practitioner and she specializes in this field! I always admire how much she knows and how understanding she is of all of her clients! Anyhow, I've wanted to see what my personal Ayurveda was and I find that I'm a Tridosha but I have a pretty rising Vata! I've been trying to ground myself more with cooked foods, green tea, routine and getting everything done on my to-do list, which has been incredible for me!

I love Ayurveda! It was one of my favorite modules at Integrative Nutrition. I'm a pitta, too, and I could relate to pretty much everything you said haha. :) Excited to hear about your spa experience, I wish we had places like that here! (yet another reason to visit Cali soon!)

Yes Liz, from the few photos I have seen of you and what I know about you, you fit the Vata description to a tee! I am meant to be a pitta, but my Vata is overtaking the pitta right now so I feel you on all that Vata-ness. :)

Hi Em! I love this question, especially because I was wondering when I was writing this post whether it would be confusing to anyone in conjunction with my functional medicine post. The answer is... Yes, I am doing all of it together! When I first started Ayurveda, I was on all of my supplements (12+) from my functional medicine doctor, and now I am cutting back to only the supplements I really need the *MOST* (hormone balancers, sleep, digestion) and then supplementing on the side with the Ayurvedic herbs. My honest answer is that I prefer the most natural route possible so the less "lab-made" supplements, the better. But functional medicine is already so alternative, holistic and natural compared to Western medicine, so I am comfortable with it. For me, I really like doing both at once. My functional medicine doctor knew that I needed a lot of relaxation in my life to help with my stress levels, and Ayurveda has given me the tactics/tools to calm down and be more grounded. Does that help? Happy to answer any more questions you might have!! Xo
