Great story and very well written. I’m a 72 year old man and you’re 27 year old woman so we don’t have much in common except a desire to improve our health with fasting and healing food (and the same digits in our age). I grew up on a dairy farm in Ontario, Canada and ate everything served to me or that I liked for 43 years and then a severe bacterial blood infection gave me coeliac disease that went undiagnosed for 10 years. Tried every diet possible and then was ‘cured’ by going on the Atkins diet to lose weight. That worked for seven years but skin rashes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hiatus hernia (GERD), and arthritis developed. A heart scan at UCLA in 2000 revealed very high coronary heart calcification. I discovered Dr. Steven Gundry and The Plant Paradox in 2018 and have strictly followed his regime (diet, exercise, intermittent fasting) ever since. Within six months all my meds were gone (ARB, PPI, Aspirin, Fenobibrate) and blood pressure was normal, cholesterol better than ever, skin clear, arthritis completely cured, and weight totally stable. I fast 20/4 daily (OMD) and 5/2 (two days a week less than 600 calories) and 30/5 (five days a month less than 900 calories). Fructose is very toxic for humans so no fruit except green bananas and green mangos and occasional wild blueberries or blackberries. Five years ago my eGFR was 51 (kidney failure) and now it’s over 90 (normal). My family doctor told me that he’s never in 40 years of practicing medicine seen any patient recover from an eGFR of 51. Fasting is amazing but water only is best for emergency treatment. Intermittent fasting as outlined by Dr. Valter Longo will give you all the benefits while keeping your microbiome alive and better balanced. Your skin problems are almost certainly caused by bad microbes in your gut. They need to be wiped out (which fasting does) but they need to be kept under control by good microbes in the long term. Good luck.

Hi there, I enjoyed reading your experience about the water fast. I’m curious to know if your fibroid shrank or not? I’m contemplating going on a fast for this reason.

Hiii!! I just saw your experience with the water fasting and I’m really interested in doing it for 15 days. But I’m really in doubt too, because I see people saying you’ll gain all the weight back, but I also believe that if you eat healthy after it, and break it down slowly and exercise you won’t gain it back. Am I right? Did you gain it back after a while? I’m planning on eating healthy after it at least for 5 days, then eating healthy but sometimes eating some unhealthy stuff (but not too much)! I’m really inspired by you and I really wanna loose some weight, thanks in advance!!

I do my fasting while going to work and gym as well. I started because I was taking the pill and it ruined my metabolism so I gained 10 kg and I still didn't fit in some of my pants but now my botax muscles are bigger as well I am almost at my target weight and am very happy of the results and even my period normalized an it has a regular flow.It made me feel like myself again

Thank you for sharing your experience at True North. It was so honest and enlightening, without holding anything back.

I'd love to know the outcome of the fibroid and if water fasting helped reduce its size? Also, did your rash stabilize after leaving True North or did it return to pre-fasting status?

If you blogged about both of these can you please share the links?

Thank you again!

Interesting read. I'm 5 days in on a 7-14 day water fast right now. Was curious about the re-feeding process they use. There just in not a lot of information(dr supplied) and knowing sort of how your process went in helpful. If I make 7 days I'm going to push for 14. Unlike you I was right on the border of obese and could lose some weight. Mainly want to reset my metabolism. Best wishes

Thank you for sharing your experience with water fasting! I am currently on my 8.th day and feel pretty much okay. Cramps can come if I stress my body, but not really an issue.

I have no plans on where to end my water fasting, but last time I went 11 days on water, and 5 days on getting back to solid. Before that, my body was 120kg (metric) and after getting solid back in the system, 98kg and continually dropping to a stable 85-90kg. However, this was not the benefits I loved! Chronic pains left my body, as well as cravings and my "got to eat everything" -mentality. (this was.. 7 years ago or so)

As I began my fasting now, I was around 85kg, and honestly I hope I don't drop too much. Not sure if I am going to do this a third time in my life unless I get an illness curable by fasting. However, I look forward to bring a 3 day fasting into my life perhaps once a month.

Thanks for a good read!

PS: The first time I fasted more than a week, I felt cold a lot. This time around, I am not. Fasting seem always to be a new experience!

Edit: I do not stay in bed, but travel around and keep my body active at a low level. (walk and hike mostly)
Anyone who want to do a long water fasting for the first time, never drain your energy. Just keep it "not dead." That way, your body will not turn off your muscles for eating, as it will understand you might be needing them to "hunt" for food. (nature)
