I am reading this, unable to sleep again, on my couch. It’s after midnight. My boyfriend is asleep in our bed. I am unemployed because of chronic fatigue and complete heaviness and pain in my body that is predictably unpredictable. My savings are running out. I feared this happening ever since I was 14 when the fatigue started. Somehow my pediatrician had my 20+ year old files in the attic of the office and they sent them to me. I had Lyme at 14 and never knew it. Never was told by my parents. Never got treatment. Also had EBV and was never told. 18 years later after countless unremarkable blood tests, doctors telling me I’m ‘too pretty to be that tired’, a friend told me it could be Lyme. I don’t know for sure yet and am trying to find help but in the meantime I found your podcast episode where you tell your story solo. When I listened to it I felt hope for the first time in a long time. I felt the same when I read this tonight. Thank you for taking the energy you do have to make your podcast and to write. I needed to read this, and hope God figures out a way for me to heal so that I can help other people too. It’s always darkest before the dawn, right? I am eternally grateful for this and your story.

I just found this and it makes me feel like I am not alone. You write beautifully. I resonate with your words and love the way you are able to articulate it all so eloquently while still giving the brutally honest truth. I am in my teens recovering from Lyme and have never felt like I can voice how not okay I am at times. Thank you for this. Truly.

I also just read that paragraph and then googled Glennen and Lyme and just found you... I’m literally in Naples right now with my parents trying to recover from a flare up with Lyme and grieving the loss of now two partners who couldn’t handle being paired with someone like me (single mom to boot). Neither man could let himself face or feel the brutiful of life. I’be also dreamed of being an author since I was 8. I’m glad to have found you ladies :) (PS how did you get over the gaslighting from the medical industry and finally accept the diagnosis???) -Erin

I am reading Untamed now and when I read Glennon had struggled with Lyme I ran to Google her and Lyme and came upon your post.
After more than 20 years with chronic Lyme I can relate to so much of this. Life is often a struggle but I never give up hope.
Jordan,

Thank you, on the deepest level for sharing this. Not that I don’t completely admire your vibrant, always positive, optimistic genuine nature.. it is.. in a way a relief to know you are human going through this! It’s been 2 years for me as well..I’m 35, and literally everything you’ve mentioned I go through. I don’t suffer from fatigue, THANKFULLY.. but all the other lovely symptoms but it’s the full body searing nerve pain like fiberglass is all over my skin, making it IMPOSSIBLE to wear jeans or “normal” clothes. Making it impossible for me to sit on the couch, lay in bed or rest. I can’t even wear pants when I’m cold in my own house! I WANT TO PRY OUT OF MY BODY!!! I want to throw on a cute top, jeans and converse and my body just will not allow it right now. I too find myself worthy family and friends trying so hard to be in the moment but always wondering if I’ll ever actually heal. How awful this truly can be and the detriment of expense on top of it all! I have tried to do this naturally for as long as I could withstand until the depression and nerve pain got to the best of me after removing my breast implants and getting so much worse. I am now taking medication, which I hate, but it unfortunately it gets to a life or death feeling for me sometimes and that is my ugly beautiful truth. In the meantime, I’m learning at IIN , I’m on a completely natural protocol and try and learn and grow spiritually everyday. We do our best and it is a big fat beautiful mess! I truly appreciate you sharing the realness. Deep down I do believe that anyone that has the desire to keep going, no matter what.. will heal.

This book sounds amazing! I'm not familiar with Glennon but I probably should be now!

I honestly have no idea how you, and people like my partner (he was hit by a car 3 years ago and has nerve damage in his neck and back), live with such searing pain every day. You are amazing for being able to do anything. I am currently unemployed so my days are pretty much however I want them to be (blessing and a curse, obvi), but I woke up two mornings again thanks to my cats, fed them so they'd led me sleep, and then went back to sleep for a couple of hours with obsessive thoughts, and then I woke up with a knot the size of a peach over my left trap.

I was in so much pain that day and yesterday I got reflexology and then 90 minutes of tao acupuncture and I feel better, but I just don't know how you guys do it. I am such a whiny baby when I feel any kind of pain and I don't want to do ANYTHING, so I'm constantly amazed that you're able to even smile.

You're amazing. The end. xo
