So, SO glad I came upon your site and grocery list. Myself and family are making the switch to a plant based diet and I have been searching for a 'grocery list'. Excellent information. I'm off to the store tonight and looking forward to a healthier lifestyle. I'm embarking on this journey with 10, 13 and 52 year old meat eaters... pray for me ;)

I may be a little late to the vegan party, but I just stumbled across your blog and absolutely love this list and find it so incredibly helpful!

I have struggled with horrible cystic acne, anxiety, and depression for years and am currently on a medication to control my acne. It is a horrible feeling to be on medication and in an effort to get off it I have decided to heal myself naturally with food. I am on day 6 of a WFPB diet and have noticed my skin is already looking much better and I don't have that gross bloated feeling after eating. This is coming from a girl who's main food group was spaghetti with parmesan cheese! BTW, I too am wondering if you know of any good cheese alternatives? I tried Daiya and it was revolting to me and did not compare to my beloved parmesan.

I am also wondering how you dealt with socializing and explained your choices to your friends. I recently had to attend a dinner party and packed my own adult lunchbox with sauteed veg and a big smoothie but garnered many looks and a lot of "Oh, but where will you get your protein from??"

I have always been a thin girl and worry that people see me going vegan as a way to control my weight though it has much larger implications than that!!!

Thank you so much for all the effort you put in your list! All the best to you!

Thank you for this list!! Headed to whole foods soon and needed a cut and dry list of ideas of what foods to buy as I have decided to ditch all processed foods. Thank you!!

P.S. You can make your own almond butter at trader joes..?!?! I've never seen that there! Is it cheaper than buying pre-made almond butter, Cus that can be pretty freakin expensive, lol.

Love the pictures you posted up top with the 100% Organic Zone and the Vegan/Vegetarian Section. Which grocery stores are they? Specifically, I have a really hard time going to Trader Joes and Whole Foods trying to look for their organic/vegan products. They are stored all over the place and it takes up a lot my time trying to go through labels figuring which one has the non-gmo verified symbol and/or organic label. It would be nice to go to a grocery store where all the vegan items are grouped together like the picture above.

Thanks!

Thanks for the list, definitely helpful. I've recently started a vegan way of life and looking forward to looking and feeling better. I love whole grain pasta, are there any brand of vegan cheeses that I should/could use to shred on pasta?. I have yet so much to learn, I will certainly visit your Blog often..

Tofu and corn flakes are both strong GMO foods and most companies will not tell you where they get their raw ingredients from. Also to much soy is harmful to the thyroid gland, go easy.

This article was amazing! I decided to go vegan starting tomorrow. ( always start things on Mondays right!? :-) ) I just want to be healthier and lose some weight naturally. I have been doing a lot of online reading the past couple of days and am glad I finally stumbled onto this page! Being a beginner at this is daunting but this page will DEFINITELY help! Thank you!

Excellent, thank you! Just what I was looking for, very sensible and straight forward grocery list. Was raised as a vegetarian but strayed from the path in my adult life. Now my 16 year old son has led me to a vegan way of life by example. Will be visiting your blog often :-)

In reply to <a href="https://thebalancedblonde.com/2013/09/26/grocery-list/#comment-49592">Kristen</a>.

Hey Kristen, thanks for the comment. You can read all about my thoughts on honey in some of my previous posts. I am a more progressive vegan in the sense that I eat raw local honey. More about how you feel-- no need to focus on labeling!

Great list. Thank you. Just want to correct an error though. Kind bars are delicious but not vegan. They all are made with honey.
