Yes this helps :) I guess I was not factoring in your specific food intolerances, and/or foods that don't agree with you. I try to eat a vegan (even plant-based) diet but since I don't really have any food "intolerances" I find myself giving in to temptations/indulgences more than I should...I don't feel great after, but I also don't feel sick. Good for you for sticking with it even in tempting circumstances ;)

Why thank you!!! I love the "or not" at the end. Because even the vegan restaurant is an awesome dining experience for non-vegans and vegans alike! ;)

Hi Emily, thanks so much for the compliment. I am glad you are a fan of the blog and Instagram! Happy to clarify - my main reason for being vegan is because I have many food intolerances and have experienced severe stomach issues my whole life, so when I made the transition into veganism I learned through trial and error that my diet needs to consist of predominantly plant-based foods in order for me to thrive and feel my best. I do eat plenty of grains, legumes, tofu, tempeh, vegan desserts (I am chocolate obsessed!), oats, granola, etc. so I am not a raw foodist. I use the term vegan rather than plant-based vegan as I am not 100% plant-based - the tofu, tempeh, and rice as well as certain vegan items that I do not restrict myself from entirely. I will have gluten-free pasta or bread on occasion, but even that usually doesn't make me feel my best so I try to stay away from them. There is more info on this in my "About" section and also in previous posts. I eat this way because it is what makes me feel my best - I absolutely love it. If I didn't, I wouldn't do it! I never feel restricted. It's just my lifestyle now. Hope this answer helps :) xo

Hello,
Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of your blog/recipes and instagram. I am just hoping for a bit of clarification especially after this post...you proudly call yourself a "vegan" but it seems like you actually strictly eat fruit and vegetables? I'm wondering why, as a "vegan", you don't allow yourself to indulge from time to time in the appropriate environment. For instance, when you were at Eataly...why couldn't you have ordered some fresh bread, or fresh pasta with tomato sauce, or a sandwich with veggies...etc. With plenty of delicious vegan options, why make it harder on yourself and restrict yourself to only ordering raw arugula? And if you have made this choice for yourself, why not consider yourself a, (almost) raw foodist, or fruit/veggie eater, instead of a vegan? It just seems like you might be restricting yourself more than you need to...?
