Happy Tuesday, my loves! I have been asked a few times lately if I am pinching myself because of the success I have had with TBV over the last year. The truth is– it is completely impossible for me to see that TBV inspires people like I have been (and continue to be!) inspired by other bloggers and other people in the health community.
That’s why I love more than anything receiving emails, comments, Facebook friend requests, Instagram love, etc. from all of you because it makes all of this seem more real to me. I will never be one of those people who gets an email from a reader and disregards their questions as annoying or repetitive, because my favorite thing about this whole blogging world is connecting with all of you. That’s what it is all about for me — without the interaction, this would not be nearly as fun or fulfilling.
Which brings me to today’s topic — two ladies who have inspired me immeasurably when it comes to health, blogging, and spreading love and positivity. Before I even created @theblondevegan Instagram orrr started this lovely bloggy blog, I followed these two sisters, Julie and Katrin Selmer.
They are from Sweden (SO COOL!) and are currently living in Ghana working as life coaches and coaching young women to tap into their greatness and gain confidence to make their dreams a reality. All of their recipes are ridiculously yummy, and they literally glow from the inside out because of how kind and passionate they both are.
The extra exciting news is… Julie & Katrin have just released their first eBook! And holy crap, is it good. I have read a lot of these “blogger turned eBook author” recipe books (read: way too many), and these gals have absolutely done it right. Like this awesome “How to Make a Green Smoothie” guide– ummm, hello!
The book is an intro to raw food & includes a recipe guide, transition guide, natural beauty tips, kitchen staples, etc. It really covers all of the bases. And it is beautifully put together.
You can purchase the eBook here. And check out this lil’ Q&A to meet the ladies behind the fab-ness!
Q&A with The Raw Food Sisters:
Q: Tell me a bit about your transition into the raw food / healthy lifestyle.
A: In January 2013 we started off our health journey by trying out to be vegans for one month. It was a real turning point in our lives. We were blown away because we immediately started to feel a difference in both body and soul with increased levels of well-being. Only 10 days into our vegan month we decided to start to incorporate more raw foods into our lives. Seriously, it was like a whole new world opened up before our eyes!
We are no longer fully raw vegans but can’t emphasize enough the benefits raw food brought to us. Our raw food journey has not only brought more energy, vitality, stable blood sugar levels and decrease in unwelcome mood swings, but also greater appreciation for the natural ingredients our planet provides us with. We have also gained a deeper relationship with ourselves, and we have gradually learned to listen to our bodies and their signals. This has led to simple and undemanding weight loss, which is something both of us have struggled with for years.
Our lives with more raw food have also contributed to greater emotional understanding to our inner selves, which has helped us to be more honest with our feelings. We feel more courageous and dare to challenge ourselves to make dreams a reality.
Q: What inspired you to make an eBook?
A: Our transition to more raw food and a plant based diet is one of the best decisions we have made in our lives. We had never imagined that raw food would bring about all the positive changes that it actually has had in our lives. Our dietary changes have helped us take our lives to new levels and our goal is to inspire you to find a balanced and healthy lifestyle. We hope that you will be able to experience the benefits it has brought us.
The eBook is a beginner’s guide on how to get started with raw food. It’s the eBook we wish we would have had when we got started with raw food. That’s also what inspired us to write the eBook to make your raw food journey as easy and fun as possible.
Q: If you could describe your eBook in three words, what would they be?
A: Fun, inspiring and informative!
Q: If you could describe each other (Julie describe Katrin, Katrin describe Julie) in three words each, what would they be? (Fun question!)
A: Julie about Katrin: Warm-hearted, life lover and adventurous.
Katrin about Julie: Compassionate, fearless and always smiling.
Q: Who inspires you most?
A: Life itself inspires us the most. Love life and it will love you back.
Q: Tell us about your Ghana adventure.
A: A little more than 2 months ago we packed our bags and moved to Ghana to pursue our dreams. We are working as life coaches, coaching other young women to tap into their greatness and to gain confidence to make reality of their heart desires. We do this online with clients all around the world as well as working with locals here in Ghana. One of our heart desires is truly to empower women to realize their great potential. It’s a gift to be able to see other women step out of their shells and develop into the most beautiful butterflies.
We also have a Ghanaian company and provide consultancy services. We help foreign companies and organizations to establish and set up businesses and projects here in Ghana. This will in turn support community development and generate employment for locals. Eventually we are also aiming to start production of health food commodities locally produced in Ghana.
Q: Favorite recipe from your eBook? Favorite recipe of all time?
A: Mornings are our favorite part of the day and we find it important to start off the day in the best way possible. We love to enjoy a healthy and satisfying breakfast. Our favorite recipe must be our all-time favorite breakfast recipe Raw Buckwheat Porridge with Maca and Carob topped with mixed berries. Warning, it’s highly addictive! 😉
Question of the Day: Who inspires you?! Without Julie & Katrin, I’m not sure if I would have even created The Blonde Vegan… that’s how huge they were to me when transitioning into the health blog world!
