Ask Jordan Part I

September 2, 2014

This #AwesomelyActive post was sponsored by Tampax® Pearl® Active™ through their partnership with POPSUGAR. While I was compensated by POPSUGAR, all opinions are my own. (Duh.)

Hey, babes! As part of the new “Ask Jordan” series on TBB, I am having readers email in questions for me & then I’m choosing a few per month to highlight on the bloggy. I’m only posting questions I think the majority of readers will be interested in – and it will save me from typing variations of the same thing 1,000 times in a week & it will probably also save me from getting tendinitis one day (unless I already have it… which I sadly more than kinda sorta thing I do.)

Today we’re gettin’ down & dirty, and keeping things realer than ever. And when I say “realer” I mean really real. I don’t just make up words for nothing around here.

Today we’re going to talk about periods. Boys, if you feel like skipping out on reading this then be my guest. But I’ll just go ahead & say what we’re all thinking anyway… it’s just the human body. SKIM IT, if you have to. (( I won’t tell the TBB police. ))

Plus, it’s always a gift to learn more about the ins & outs of the fab female sex. Anyway…

My two frequently asked questions of the week ▶▷▸▹►

1. “Jordan, WTF is in your gym bag?”

2. “How do you stay active while you’re on your period? Don’t your cramps kill you & make you wanna lay in bed all week?”

Well, here’s the thing. We’ll get back to #1, but #2… staying active during that “time of the month” (( I hate when people call it that but I can only write “period” so many times in one post before sounding like a middle school sex ed teacher )) HELPS ME & makes me feel so, so much better when cramps are attacking.

I stopped taking routine medications a couple years back when I started eating a cleaner diet & learning that most things can be remedied with a good old-fashioned balance of healthy food, exercise, and R&R.

When my period comes on and I feel like total crap, I work out. And I don’t just work out, I work out vigorously. I’m talkin’ power vinyasa yoga in a heated room and running sprints up and down hills. It takes the stress off of my lower back & makes my tummy feel more settled. ActivePost3

And it’s the only thing I’ve found that possibly makes me feel less bloated, and that, my friends, is a major plus.

Sooo, in order to combat the obvious, I use Tampax® Pearl® Active™. Today I have teamed up with them to show you that having your period (or any kind of internal or external “eh” things that make you feel gross —tummy ache, headache, bad day in general) doesn’t mean you should just lie around and wait for it to pass. Get out there & DO something.

When you take control of your life, no matter what the circumstances are, that’s when balance comes.

And WTF is in my gym bag, anyway?

Well, ovbi Tampax® Pearl® Active™. I always carry chapstick, my headphones (( I would die without blasting Eminem during my workouts )), my cell phone (( chronic email-answerer while running, whoops, #workaddict )), an extra hair tie (( you know they always snap at the most inconvenient effing times )), a TOWEL (( I’m one of those girls you see at the gym with a neon red face that sweats profusely, no shame )), hairbrush (( necessary )), reading material annndd my wallet so I have the goods for some after-gym snackies.

There you have it, my loves. And I am really, REALLY picky when it comes to things involving my bod (( as you know )), so you can trust me on this one.
