My Holistic Morning Routine + The Benefits of Fermented Vitamins

May 18, 2017

Hi my loves!

Before I get started, this post was sponsored by New Chapter, the Vermont-based maker of unique vitamins and supplements which I am SO excited to share with you. These are amazing non-GMO, gluten-free, fermented multivitamins and supplements that I have been madly in love with for the last few months and have been dying to share with you.

Their certified organic and Non-GMO Project Verified products are all sustainably sourced, from organic Turmeric in India to wild-caught Alaskan Salmon. HOW COOL IS THAT?

I will share ALL the deets in this post, as they are 100% a part of my morning routine and my holistic beauty and wellness routine.

But first… home sweet HOME!

I’ve been loving being HOME in LA these last few days and getting to soak in being in my routine. Traveling is so much fun, but man do I miss my usual routine while I’m gone. And of course I miss my Huddy, who is sitting right on my lap as I write this post! My little fluffy cuddle bug.

Today we are talking all about my holistic morning routine. Otherwise known as my favorite time of day, by far.

I have been working on waking up earlier and going to bed earlier for the last month or so, which gives me more time in the morning to leisurely do all the things I love before I feel any obligation to be “on” and available to the world.

Right now, I am striving for going to bed by 10 or 10:30 every night and waking up by 6:30 a.m. I have always been more of a morning person, but it’s also always been a struggle for me to get up really early. It has rocked my WORLD starting to get up earlier these days, mainly because it helps me sleep so much better at night and I think it’s been lowering my cortisol levels also.

WIN, WIN!

What Does My Routine Look Like?!

6:30 a.m. My alarm goes off, and of course it’s peaceful, wind chiming music that starts off quietly and gets louder over the course of a few minutes so it doesn’t alarm my whole system. I usually snooze it once or twice and start to stretch and get up slowly — hence why I wake up so early, so I can take my time!

6:50 a.m. I head out to the kitchen to make Bulletproof coffee, apple cider vinegar water, and get my New Chapter vitamins & supplements. Right now I am really into the Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails supplement and HOLY MOLY you guys, has it rocked my world!

The supplement has some killer ingredient I want you guys to know about. Yes, all non-GMO and gluten-free as I mentioned above! This particular supplement uses organic algae with Astaxanthin, a rare plant-nutrient which is super healing to the skin and has been clinically proven to maintain a youthful appearance and reduce fine lines & wrinkles*†! Astaxanthin’s antioxidant action is over 50x more powerful than more commonly known antioxidants like Vitamin C & Beta Carotene, which is pretty amazing.

The supplement also uses Biotin, which you may know builds keratin for healthy hair & strong nails*§. I have personally noticed a difference in my hair, skin and nails since using this product — they all feel stronger, and my hair is shinier (albeit purple!!) and super healthy.

It ALSO uses superfood botanical blends with fermented herbs such as Aloe, Maca and Chamomile blended for Stress, Energy & Digestive Support* a.k.a GREAT for our skin.

I have made sure to incorporate it into my morning routine because the benefits are clearly incredible and it’s also full of nutrients that every woman needs to keep that balance on point.

You can buy New Chapter’s Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails from Amazon (click here) or their homepage (click here) & let me know your thoughts if you try it out! I think you’ll fall in love, and I think it’s always healing and grounding to have a supplement / multivitamin routine in the mornings.

7:00 a.m. I bring my coffee, ACV water and supplements with me to my yoga mat right in front of the window to do some light yoga and stretching. I start my burning sage and paleo santo to get the good vibes in the space going, and I turn on my calming kundalini music (Spotify profile here if you want to listen along!) and start flowing it out. I really just move intuitively here and do whatever feels good. This usually consists of lots of Cat & Cow pose, long child’s pose and downward dog holds, and rolling out my neck and shoulder blades.

7:15 a.m. After I stretch it out and get all of my cracks out, I try to sit in silence for about 15 or 20 minutes and meditate. I send deep, cleansing breaths into my heart space and focus on creating an intention for the day or for the week. I send positive vibes and love to different people in my life, usually those who I feel like need it the most or someone who is very much on my mind.

7:35 a.m. I finish my coffee, ACV water and supplements, and stay on my mat for a while to do some kundalini breath work (it taps me into my center like NO other), more dynamic movement, and some foam rolling and/or Dharma wheel rolling. I try not to check my email or hop into work for another hour or so, so I can keep the zen vibes going and really go off of the inspiration I’ve cultivated. This is one of my favorite times of day to read or write, as lots of creative stimulation is usually fresh in my mind from my meditation and mindfulness.

On Mondays & Wednesdays, I head out to teach yoga at 8:30 a.m. and am usually wide awake and ready to go after my morning, grounding routine! Other days of the week I try to keep the chill vibes going until 9:30 a.m. or so when I begin to work, check in with the team, etc.

I also TONGUE SCRAPE (favorite thing ever, will do a post on this), brush my teeth and wash my face (of course), and write down a “Rolling 9” for the day — my top nine things to focus on and accomplish, no matter how big or small.

I am so in love with how my New Chapter vitamins and supplements make me feel, and am so thrilled about the benefits of fermented vitamins versus the regular vitamins that I used to take. The Hair, Skin & Nails supplement I mentioned is also enhanced with organic Reishi mushroom, which is traditionally used to support healthy aging and vitality… one of my absolute fave adaptogens!

If you try them out, let me know what you think! And if you want to learn more — get excited, because there is lots more info to come! They just came out with a line of fermented booster powders, which I will be sharing soon on my YouTube! Yay!

What does your morning routine look like?! I would love to know. It truly is my favorite time of day.
